"George Mason," my friend and blog partner at Brushfires of Freedom, recently passed away. We wish him good luck on his journey on the next leg of the great adventure of existence.
Godspeed, George. Have a safe journey.
"Crossing The Bar"
by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
It's likely that "George" would prefer the Dylan Thomas poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night."
Sad news.
George was a fearless patriot and a man whom I respected.

The angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hand of God. ~Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994

This is sad news indeed! In George, I have lost a true friend. His passing is so sad for us all. George was an intellect, a man of deep and profound thought. I shall miss him and his insights, as will his dear family and his friends.
May dear George rest in peace!

George was a great-souled person. One could sense in his writing a true patriot concerned his country was losing its way. One could see in his comments to other people, an encouraging soul eager to light the way. Most of all, one sensed a loving and proud husband. We miss you, George.
